We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Communication
St John Bosco Catholic Primary School Engadine strives to be an open and transparent school community. The purpose of all communication is to inform and build knowledge and understanding, and should be delivered and received respectfully, acknowledging the dignity of all people.
We employ a range of communication measures with parents, including Compass app notifications and emails, parent-teacher evenings, phone calls, assemblies, newsletters, school Facebook page, open classrooms, parent forums and formal meetings (by appointment).
Parent Advisory Council
St John Bosco’s School Parent Advisory Council is the forum that builds, strengthens and nourishes the school community as part of the wider parish community. The advisory council facilitates shared responsibility for the wellbeing of the school community within the beliefs, values, teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church. The Council makes recommendations to and supports the Principal in developing the school in all its facets.
Class Parent Representatives
Each year nominations are called for parents to take on the role of Parent Class Representative. A planning meeting is held at the beginning of the school year to determine annual social and fundraising events on behalf of the school community. The Parent Class Representative member makes contact with other parents in that year to seek their assistance and to ensure the tasks are shared among parents of each year.
